In spring 2002 The Danish Parliament made an amendment on the act on the public healthcare system. The object of amendment is to ensure that patients who have not been offered treatment by their county of residence within a period of two months are given the opportunity to opt for treatment at Danish private hospitals, clinics or non-Danish hospitals which have entered into at joint agreement with the regions.
It is Danish Regions that on behalf of the regions in Denmark enter into agreement with the private hospitals, clinic and non-Danish hospitals.
An agreement consist of a standard agreement, that contain general stipulations and a supplement that specify which operations and treatments that are included in the agreement and the price. On this website you can find an example of a standard agreement in an English version and a German version.
Non-Danish hospitals and clinics that are interested in entering into an agreement may contact Danish Regions.
